Update about Showtime Robots

Jun 17, 10:28 PM by Aris Blevins

So as you surely noticed dear readers, that Chris Thrash video is gone. Apparently pulled off Youtube for reason of copyright. Of course. The snitch? Programblue… The maker of software to control robots and animatronics!

I was upset at losing that video. But dear god this is far better. An entire site of people rocking out bots on their own. This is the future I’ve been waiting to find. (Didn’t you all know that time finally collapsed and now you find your future in the present?)

So with no further ado, Love in the Club.

I’ll surely be posting more from the site.

A great thing about LA

Jun 17, 10:24 PM by Aris Blevins

So I had lunch today with Brian Amandus, the Matchframe sales rep for Suspension at the Smokehouse in Burbank.

Besides having a fantastic conversation about life and the state of post-production I was really taken with the restaurant. It’s one of the many Los Angeles spots that has been around forever and not changed a lick. Some others along the same line are Taix and Musso And Frank’s Grill. I’m sure every major American cities has it’s fair share of these places. As any good Angeleno knows, LA despises things over 1 decade old. So for any of these restaurant to be around, let alone unmolested since opening nigh on 100 years ago in some cases is a boner fide miracle. Their preservation surely has something to do with the fact that they were all old Hollywood haunts, and excellent spots to make a deal through the ages. As far as I’m concerned the why don’t matter, it’s just the is of it.

My love is also compounded by the fact that they all have kick ass bars, staffed by truly good bartenders. Sounds like time for an old fashioned and a steak sandwich, eh Dom?

Best use of the word thrash in a while...

Jun 10, 11:48 PM by Aris Blevins

This guy, Chris Thrash, bought some robots. Animatronic puppets from Showtime Pizza to be exact. Like ya do.

He then learned how to program the robots, I assume with some sort of MIDI controller. Not that it matters.

Now that this fellow has a programmable animatronic band (The Rocka-fire Band) he uses it cover some great jams.

He has since pulled all the videos off youtube. Not sure why, hopefully not problems with Showtime.

I was able to find this one working version. “Enjoy.”:http://www.truveo.com/Usher-Love-in-This-Club/id/921912110

UPDATE The video got pulled. I will find it!

Gitmo? Get Out!

Jun 6, 01:28 PM by Aris Blevins

So the LA Times has some good coverage of the Gitmo trials of KSM and fellow suspected 9-11 co-conspirators.

These guys are ready 2 die. Thug Life. In no surprise, to me at least, they are fairly thrilled to be sent to the great beyond as payment for their Jihad duties.

Clearly the trials are a bit one-sided, as has been covered a number of places, but I wonder, if they continue at the same pace, whether the US will really have won. These guys are coming off as so COOL. They are relaxed, patronizing and verbose, if not down right clever.

One thing that stood out to me was, what I believe is, a pun from KSM’s nephew:

“The government is talking about lawyers free of charge. The government also tortured me free of charge all these years”

That might not be a pun, but if it is- what a delicious one. That’s on some Jay-Z, Ali signifying shit.

Well I’m certainly on some lists now.

All that is interesting enough, until you realize that this is taking place in front of reporters who are in a separate soundproof room with a 20 second audio delay.

Sur real. As in south of real.

Can you imagine watching A Few Good Men or Kramer Vs. Kramer with a 20 second tape delay? Really ruins the drama of the courtroom drama. Ah the things you have to do when you give your detainees psychotropic truth drugs…
